Day Two: Preview & How to Watch Live

The London Squash Classic continues today with the top half round two matches coming up exclusively from the famous Alexandra Palace as players look to advance to the quarter finals in the first Gold event of the new PSA Squash Tour season.

Only two of today’s eight fixtures do not feature an Egyptian, with Farida Mohamed and Youssef Soliman opening the show as they take on No.4 seed Satomi Watanabe and Noor Zaman.

England’s highest-ranked player, Georgina Kennedy, is third in the line-up as she looks to harness the power of the home crowd to advance to the quarter finals. She’s up against Sana Ibrahim at 14:45. Two-time British National Champion Mohamed Elshorbagy follows Kennedy on the all-glass court as he faces India’s Ramit Tandon.

Top seeds Hania El Hammamy and Paul Coll open their campaigns in the first two matches of the evening session. El Hammamy faces Malaysia’s Aira Azman as she looks to pick up a first London Classic title. Coll is up against England’s Sam Todd in his first match of the new season. Todd defeated Egypt’s Moustafa Elsirty in round one and will relish the opportunity to perform on the glass court.

USA’s Amanda Sobhy will take on Salma Hany in the penultimate match of day two. Despite 13 previous meetings, Hany has yet to beat Sobhy, and their last meeting ended in a 3-0 win for the American in Cincinnati in February. The final match of the night will see Malaysia’s Eain Yow Ng face No.4 seed Aly Abou Eleinen.

A best-of-three format will be used until the semi-finals of the London Squash Classic, before the event reverts to the traditional best-of-five scoring system.
