Kennedy on Her win

“I’ve lost to her three times in a row and they’ve been frustrating losses.
“When we’re playing [in practice] we’re battling it out for over an hour, so it confused me a bit why I wasn’t as good when I got into those PSA matches. It’s a barrier I’ve overcome today by taking the win.
“I’ve got a bit of a different mindset and I’m understanding what’s happening in the rallies better. When she went 10-7 up I was aware I was playing really good squash and she did get a few lucky bounces. By remembering that instead of worrying that I was losing, I was able to decipher and understand what was happening.
“That allowed me to play my game and have a clear understanding of what I’m doing.
“I spent a good chunk of time over in Connecticut with Rod Martin. We started working together this time last year, and I can’t tell you how many hours he has spent on court with me, it’s unbelievable what he does, he’s on court for nine hours a day.
“That man is something else. He has invested his time into making be a better mover and a better ball striker. He understands the strengths of my game and he has helped me capitalise on them.
“I’m really enjoying being on court and that makes me relax and I’m able to execute what I’m doing, and he is a big reason why that is the case.”

A Big Win for the London Favourite

London’s own Kennedy reaches the last four after a terrific performance against Watanabe ends a three-match losing streak to the Japanese player.
A clinical masterclass from the World No.8 who really stepped up her performance after a slow start.
Either World No.1 Hania El Hammamy or USA’s Amanda Sobhy will await Kennedy in the next round.

Kennedy Leads

Local favourite Georgina Kennedy has taken the lead against Satomi Watanabe, fighting back from 7-2 down.
Watanabe was dominating the ‘T’ in the early stages of the game, but Kennedy reeled her back in superbly with a more aggressive game plan.
The English star is one game away from a spot in the semi-finals.
