Mohamed Elshorbagy & Rowan Elaraby Withdraw

Former World Champion Mohamed Elshorbagy and current World No.10 Rowan Elaraby have unfortunately withdrawn from the upcoming GillenMarkets London Squash Classic due to injury.

Elshorbagy has tasted victory eight times on English soil but will have to wait to attempt to score a ninth as the 3x British Open champion has sustained an injury and will therefore be unable to compete. Wales’ Joel Makin will replace Elshorbagy as the No.4 seed and after receiving a bye in round one, will now face either Adrian Waller or Juan Camilo Vargas in his opening match.

Spain’s World No.17 Iker Pajares has moved into a top eight seeding position and will now receive an opening round bye before taking on one of George Parker or Auguste Dussourd. England’s Simon Herbert has claimed the vacant spot in the draw and faces compatriot Nathan Lake on day one.

Due to the withdrawal of No.6 seed Rowan Elaraby in the women’s draw, compatriot Fayrouz Aboelkheir has now moved to a top eight seed, receiving a bye in round one. She will open her campaign against either Malak Khafagy or Emily Whitlock in round two.

England’s Katie Malliff will now move to a 9/16 seed and replace Aboelkheir’s position, facing Grace Gear in round one, with the winner set to take on Malaysia’s No.7 seed Sivasangari Subramaniam. 9/16 seed Jasmine Hutton will now play a reserve player that confirms their place in the draw.
