Day ONE at Coolhurst
The inaugural London Squash Classic gets under way today, with sixteen Round One matches on two courts at Coolhurst.
Today’s winners will go through to play one of the seeded players over the next two days on the Glass Court at Alexandria Palace.

Nine English winners on Day One at Coolhurst
The opening session of the London Squash Classic at Coolhurst LTC saw all four women’s 9/16 seeds in action safely through to Round Two – English trio Lucy Turmel, Jasmine Hutton and Katie Malliff joined by Wales’ Tesni Murphy in rapid straight game wins.
In the men’s matches 9/16 seeds Adrian Waller and Raphael Kandra were both tested before progressing, then USA’s Timmy Brownell and England’s George Parker both progressed against the seedings, beating Fares Dessouky and Auguste Dussourd.
The evening session started with the first women’s upset, wildcard Alicia Mead taking out Egypt’s Mariam Metwally in two quick games, and men’s wildcard Declan James also went through as he beat Egypt’s Mohamed Elsherbini.
Another English upset concluded the day as Nick Wall came from a game down to beat Qatar’s Abdulla Al Tamimi.
